The Freeman Regional Health Services Foundation announces its new fundraising project: A Digital Mammography Unit for the FRHS Radiology Department.
"We are very excited to announce this project," stated Foundation Director Ruth Strasser. "We believe that offering digital mammography here at Freeman Regional will be a significant benefit to our patients."
For years FRHS has offered analog mammograms as a service to patients in Freeman and the surrounding communities. Digital imagery, however, is a superior method for breast cancer detection.
"We want to offer the best possible method of early breast cancer detection for our patients," said Radiology Manager Colette Mutchelknaus. "Our new digital mammography will provide that, with better efficiency and excellent and clear imagery. We are thrilled about this new project that will benefit so many people."
"Through a generous bequest we have $68,000.00 for this project," Strasser said. "We will need an additional $34,000.00 to cover the entire cost of the mammography which is $102,000.00."
The annual Foundationa Gala, which has been scheduled for January 25, 2014, is the major fundraising event for the foundation. Proceeds from the gala have helped fund projects including a new tub and tubroom at Oakview Terrace.
