Oakview Terrace Dementia Care Units

Alzheimer’s Disease, a form of dementia, is a slowly progressive, acquired impairment of intellectual functions.  Alzheimer's is a term used to describe a group of brain disorders that cause memory loss and decline in mental function, over time.

There are a number of individuals at Oakview Terrace who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia.  Oakview Terrace Nursing Home has two 10-bed dementia care units.  The units are designed to be a safe, secure environment for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and/or related dementias.  For more information click on Oakview Terrace.

"Another really crazy thing about Alzheimer's, nobody really wants to talk to you any longer.  They're maybe afraid of us, I don't know if that's the trouble or not, I assume it is, but we can assure everybody that we know Alzheimer's is not catching."  Cary Smith Henderson, "Partial View"

The group is sponsored by the South Dakota Alzheimers Association and facilitated by FRHS Social Worker Amanda Mettler.  For more information, please call Amanda at 605-925-2108, or the South Dakota Alzheimers Association at 605-925-4543.
