Activities at Freeman Regional Health Services

The Activities Department at Freeman Regional Health Services provides a variety of programs and activities.

Staff plans programs which are geared toward meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each resident at Oakview Terrace.

Programs include a daily devotional period each morning at 9:30, Monday through Friday.  Every afternoon at 2:00, Monday through

Saturday  programs are planned.  This may include music programs, Bible studies, special holiday parties, birthday parties, church

groups, discussions, outings, ice cream socials and manicures.  Coffee is served each afternoon following the 2:00 program.

Activities also provides 1:1 stimulation for those residents who need to be confined to their rooms due to illness or other circumstances.

These activities include reading to the resident, writing letters, and sensory stimulation such as hand massage.

Montessori-based activity is a  program that the FRHS Activities Department uses.  It is designed to assist residents suffering from Alzheimer's

Disease and other related disorders.  Participants with dementia need cognitive stimulation, along with opportunities to meaningfully

interact with their physical and social environment.  For more information about the Montessori program, log onto to: www.myersresearch.org.
