The Activities Department at Freeman Regional Health Services provides a variety of programs and activities. Staff plans programs which are geared toward meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each resident at Oakview Terrace. Programs include a daily devotional period each morning at 9:30, Monday through Friday. Every afternoon at 2:00, Monday through Saturday programs are planned. This may include music programs, Bible studies, special holiday parties, birthday parties, church groups, discussions, outings, ice cream socials and manicures. Coffee is served each afternoon following the 2:00 program. Games provide physical and recreational stimulation, and patio activities during nice weather gives residents an opportunity to get outdoors for fresh air.
Activities also provides 1:1 stimulation for those residents who need to be confined to their rooms due to illness or other circumstances. These activities include reading to the resident, writing letters, and sensory stimulation such as hand massage. Also included in 1:1 sensory stimulation are DVDs and television for visual stimulation, and music and church CDs for audio stimulation and spiritual comfort.
