The Activities Department at FRHS provides a variety of programs and activities for the Oakview Terrace residents. Staff plans programs geared toward meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each resident.
Programming includes a daily devotional period every morning, Monday through Friday. At left, resident Martha Waltner accompanies the singing of hymns during the daily devotional period.
Each afternoon special programs are planned. Recently the activities staff made homemade ice cream with the residents. At left, resident Clarence Graber and Activities Assistant Michelle Zeeb prepare the old fashioned ice cream maker, adding the salt. Clarence cranked the machine, and residents later enjoyed home made ice cream!
Other programs may include music, Church Groups and Bible studies, special holiday and birthday parties, discussions, games, baking demonstrations, outings, ice cream socials, and manicures. Coffee is served each afternoon following the programs. Patio games are planned as well during nice weather.
The Activities Department also provides 1-1 stimulation for those residents who need to be confined to their rooms due to illness or other circumstances. These activities can include reading to the resident, writing letters, and sensory stimulation such as hand massage. Visual stimulation includes DVDs, Church CDs and talking books.
Activities are available for Oakview Terrace residents, Adult Day Services Clients and Swing Bed patients.
