CT Scanner Purchased

Freeman Regional Health Services is dedicated to bringing convenient, quality health care services to Freeman and surrounding communities.  As part of its commitment, FRHS has installed a new CT system in the radiology department. The new Siemens SOMATOM Perspective 64-slice CT will replace the exisiting 6-slice machine.

CT systems combine special X-Ray technology with sophisticated computers to produce highly detailed images of organs, bones, soft tissues and blood vessels.  CT exams are regularly used by physicians to diagnose conditions such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The new CT system is fast, comfortable and convenient.  The new system makes CT exams safer for patients by reducing radiation exposure by up to 60%.

"CT systems use a small dose of ionizing radiation to generate highly detailed pictures of inside the body that could not be seen by standard x-ray examinations," said Radiology Director Colette Mutchelknaus.  "This new system reduces radiation and helps us detect disease at its earliest stage, when treatment is most effective."

In addition to improved patient comfort and safety, the new CT system at FRHS improves patient access and reduces travel time so area residents don't have to go far for high-quality imaging services.

"By replacing our old CT scanner with the new and improved Siemens Perspective 64-slice CT, we are able to provide advanced imaging technology that is close to home," said CEO Nick Brandner.  "Patients can receive care from the medical professionals they know and trust right here in the comfort of our own communities."
