FRHS & SMH Press Release -- Community help needed for F.A.C.E. Mask Project

Thank you so much to our wonderful community!
The response from our community for cloth face masks has been terrific and we’ve received a very strong supply of cloth masks. If you still have more masks to share with FRHS and SMH, we will very much accept them and are very grateful. If there are other businesses, community members, family, or friends that need or desire a cloth mask, please feel free to share with them as well.
Thank you again!

Freeman Regional Health Services and Salem Mennonite Home, along with other healthcare providers throughout the nation, will likely face a shortage of facemasks in the coming weeks. We are doing our best to conserve our supply of disposable face masks, but we realize that additional face masks will be needed by our nurses, providers, and other caregivers.
In order to address this pressing need, we are reaching out to our community to encourage them to join the Faith And Community Engage (F.A.C.E.) Mask project. We are asking for everyone to keep the faith and to show our sense of community with the call to action to address this urgent need for donations of hand-sewn face masks.
There are several patterns for cloth face masks being shared on social media and the web, however we are requesting mask donations with the Avera F.A.C.E. Mask project’s Olson Mask design. Those who are interested in creating cloth masks, should visit the project website at https://www.avera.org/balance/wellness-and-preventive-care/how-can-i-help-sew-masks-for-health-care-workers/ for the pattern and guidelines. Please contact Amanda Mettler with questions and to receive donation drop-off information or the pattern/guidelines at Amanda.Mettler@freemanregional.com.
