Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling is a treatment technique that is used to treat muscle pain and dysfunction. It’s used by physical therapists and other providers with advanced training and has been legal for over 10 years in some U.S. states and for the past 3 years in SD. Dry needling uses similar needles to acupuncture but has different assessment and treatment techniques, often going deeper into the muscle. Dry needling targets specific points in muscles that may be leading to pain and dysfunction. It can help improve muscle mobility, strength, coordination, and decrease pain. Dry needling can be very effective in treating headaches, numbness and tingling, shoulder pain, hip pain, and low back pain. It is used with other physical therapy treatment techniques to decrease pain and improve function.
